Let's get one thing straight...

... I'm not so deluded as to think I'm going to appear on a cover! If that were the case I think I would deserve locking up. I'm not stupid. The 2009 challenge is just a goal to aim at, to be in the kind of shape where I would be able to consider entering a competition - not to win, but just to be in with the runners and riders. That's all. I know it takes years even for guys who are already athletically built to challenge for a place, and I'm certainly not one of them. All I want to do is see what improvements an average guy can make in 18 months.

I'm going to post my workout and nutrition strategy later on today, when I get back from the footie (sans half time pie!)

Excelent mate, not an impossible task - at 2lbs a week, you could lose over 8 stone in the time frame, which is more than you need to.

Remember, your results will be 80% down to your diet, so get that posted asap.

You giving up the beers too?

(allow anon comments, you'll get more help that way)

Hey Chris,

Thanks for the comments and support mate. The diet side of the deal is the one hardest to control since my other half is one of those annoying people who eats what she wants but still stays a size 10! And she does the shopping...

But more on that later. It's definitely a priority...

Thanks for the tip on the anon comments - took your advice, cheers!

You're gonna have to start doing the shopping dude... or putting your foot down with the missus :)

Buy in bulk and fill your feezer, so you only do a big shop twice a month, then pick up veg during the week.

I'll post some decent tips in a day or so to help you get organised (I'm a lazy sod, so if it works for me, you're laughing!)
